New King Size Forage Harvester from Kongskilde
Kongskilde Agriculture expands its range of king size and trailed forage harvesters for the French market. The CT 1260 MD is launched at SIMA 2017. A cost-effective alternative to self-propelled harvesters and a flexible solution for optimizing the quality of the silage.
Kongskilde introduces the FCT 1260 MD as an entry model of their high capacity and trailed for-age harvesters. It is designed for precise and homogeneous chopping of grass, optimizing the ensiling process. The MD designation means that it is equipped with a metal detector. Kongskil-de’s range of king size forage harvesters now comprises the FCT 1260 and FCT 1360/1460.
Highly efficient intake and cutting system
FCT 1260 has a high capacity feed intake similar to FCT 1460. It utilizes the same transmission elements as FCT 1460 and can therefore transfer the same power to knife rotor and intake.
Furthermore, the optimized design of the feed intake system ensures an even flow that
increases capacity.
Kongskilde FCT 1260 incorporates the well-proven Upper Cut system. Thanks to this unique system, the cutting rotor also works as blower so that the crop is cut at the shear bar and thrown directly into the chute, eliminating friction between rotor housing and knives. The result is 25-50 % higher capacity than conventional choppers without increasing power requirements.
Two types of cutting rotors with 24 or 32 knives are available to achieve the right composition and cutting length of the forage.
Compact dimensions, great manoeuvrability
The differences between FCT 1260 and the well-known FCT 1360/1460s are the narrow intake, which is 720 mm compared to 900 mm and the width of the Pick-up, which is 2.65 m compared to 3.10 m, making the FCT 1260 the compact alternative.
A transport width of only 2.99 m makes the machine highly manoeuvrable, also on the small country roads. Furthermore, the foldable chute makes transportation an easier task.
Metal detector
The FCT 1260 MD comes with a metal detector as standard. A magnetic bar placed in the lower front roller, registers any magnetic objects passing between the rollers, and the electronics
releases a stop pawl that stops the intake and Pick-up before the object reaches the knife rotor. This stops the feeding immediately and blocks the metal from reaching the cutting rotor, thereby protecting the machine as well as the livestock.
Ease of use and a minimum of maintenance
All functions are controlled from a user-friendly control box in the tractor cabin, securing easy operation and adaption to changing conditions. There are different chute options available, where the foldable chute can optimize filling of high trailers.
The driveline requires a minimum of service – a central greasing unit is standard, so 17
greasing points on rotor and intake, are now accessed through only 1 central point.
“The FCT 1260 MD is the flexible alternative for dairy farmers and contractors looking for a
high capacity forage harvester with a considerably lower initial investment and making use of the available high horsepower tractors, which are more common today, compared to the self-propelled forage harvesters,” concludes Søren Thomasen, Group Product Manager at Kongskil-de Agriculture.
